Bio - Born and raised in DSM, IA. Graduated from Grand View University with BAs in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, and Creative and Performing Arts. Professional Artist for 10 years working independently and collaboratively. I am a painter, an illustrator, a muralist and a designer. Technique - The surface begins with a subtle suffusion of gel medium for texture. A wash of acrylic and some drawing with graphite or charcoal follows. Pigment is then built up using contrasting thin washes and thick strokes of paint. The graphite/charcoal line-work is either left revealed, painted over, or followed exactly. The image is concluded with some detailed blending and brushwork, creating both loose and meticulous areas in the composition. Subjects...
